ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF

Welcome World :-)

Not quite sure how it got to this point ... writing a blog and all. The people who truly know me, know that I absolutely love to write and I love to help people. I am an open book and what you see is sure as hell what you get. Throughout the years, people have reached out to me regarding my thoughts on facebook, as well as the quotes I use to express my feelings on life, love, family, etc. It wasn't until last week that it finally hit me: words, maybe even my words, can truly make a difference. Yes, we all have songs ... lyrics ...  poems ... that really touch us and take us to a different place. However, to know that someone is going through what you are going through, can really give you strength, helps you realize you aren't alone.

Last week, I wrote a status on facebook expressing how I disliked people in high school because of a boy or some other dumb reason and how now I am friends with these people. It shows how much people can grow from high school and realize that life is too short to hold grudges. I had a girl add to this status, expressing how she was in agreement with my feelings and that she used to get picked on in our high school. Although the constant belittlement is something she will never forget, she refuses to hold grudges against these people. Shortly after her comment, she posted this on my wall...

"Just wanted to let you know, that when I am having a stressful day with my boys, work, or life in general. I go to your profile, and read your saying that you have as statues. They make me smile, and cry sometimes because they are very true. Just something that I know I can go too to make me smile again :) Your a beautiful person Debra, inside and out. Don't ever change. Night."

Inspite of the feedback I received prior to this post, this is the one that truly stuck. My thoughts were making a positive influence on someone ... and I didn't even know it! Even further than that, it made me proud of myself. In high school, I never made fun of her ... I never made her feel less than ... and that makes me proud. I can go back to high school and know I didn't bully anyone ... I didn't sleep around ... I was a good student and a good person. What more is there to be proud of?

I want my blog to help people, as cliche as that sounds. I want you to know that you can be yourself, you are not alone and that there are people going through the same exact things you are. If my blog can make you smile or make you feel strong for just one day, I feel as though my job has been done.

Get ready for a crazy ride ... this is the world through the eyes of ... Debra Lynn :-)
